The above answer is probably good advice if by chance the fly got stuck in your ear, but this does not usually happen since flies are very skittish and would not normally be caught in this situation.

A fly enters a body cavity or open wound of other animals for the purpose of deposting eggs. It does this only when the animal is dead or very near death. Occassionally a fly might get confused and enter the ear or nostril of a living animal but it will soon correct its mistake before it gets swatted and it will not deposit eggs, a process which takes some time.

As for the dead and dying, the green bottle fly is the first to detect death (even just before it happens) and will enter any body orifice or wound and deposit its eggs. The resulting maggots are frequently used by forensic entymologists to determine the time of death.

So unless you are dead or dying, you have nothing to fear from a wayward housefly - unless,of course, you smell like you are dead or dying. Flies are incredibly attracted to things that smell like feces, urine, putricine and cadaverine, odors that can be present on a horribly unbathed body. Still they will not deposit eggs unless you are are dead.
