The largest divider among plants is weither or not a plant is vascular. That is if that a network of narrow tube runs through out the plant in a streamlined fashion that is able to efficiently transport water or nutrients is present it is vascular, other wise it is non-vascular.

Vascular Plants include Trees, Grasses, Ferns, and Flowers.

Non-Vascular Plants are mostly Mosses.

Vascular Plants are then broken up by the method of Reproduction.

Ferns(Class name needed) make spores.

Pines(Conifers) have different cones for each sex. Male Cones Pollinate Female Cones.

Flowering Plants (Angiosperms) have male and female sex organs in a single flower. The flower once fertilized folds in and forms a protective shell around the seed.

I am not certain on the specifics of non-vascular classification, but I believe it is also based on various reproductive strategies
