∙ 13y agoBone is composed of 1/3 organic matter and 2/3 inorganic matter. The organic matter includes bone cells (osteoblasts, osteocytes, and osteoclasts) and osteoids. The inorganic portion is made up of minerals, calcium and phosphorous ions, and hydroxiapatite crystals.

∙ 13y agoInorganic Components are made of mineral salts, mainly hydroxyapatite ( a crystallized form of "tri-calcium phosphate" some calcium carbonate, and small amounts of magnesium hydroxide, fluoride and sulfate. They give the bone it's characteristic's that makes it unique among all the other tissues: an exceptional HARDNESS which allows it to resist compression.
Properties:
- Makes the bone hard to compress because it's made out of mineral salts
- 65% is the bone mass, and nearly 2 thirds of the matrix.
