Could kids get PTDS from their fathers that served in Vietnam?
Post Traumatic Distress Syndrome (PTDS) is not hereditary. The
word "Post" means AFTER; the word "Traumatic" means an injury
produced by VIOLENCE; the word "Distress" means mental or physical
SUFFERING...an anxiety or sorrow; the word "Syndrome" means a
pattern of symptoms or a group of symptoms that when grouped
together create a certain CONDITION. The term may have originated
from the Vietnam War, but the term is definitely being used by any
and all disorders today when it comes to "After" the incident;
"Violence"; "Suffering"; and the individual's "condition."
Examples: Car accidents, airplane accidents, boating accidents,
bicycle accidents, skate boarding accidents, earthquakes,
hurricanes, Bee-Stings, motorcycle accidents, hunting accidents,
swimming accidents, football accidents...any one of those
"incidents" involving after the fact (post), violence, suffering,
and finally the "condition" can result in the individual claiming
PTDS. Hereditary=Being passed down from parent to child. Those
normally involve the natural occurring attributes of the father and
mother; such as height, or color of eyes and hair, etc.
