Domains are the highest taxonomic rank that organisms are grouped into. In biology, there are three domains: Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya. Each domain represents a major group of organisms with different characteristics and evolutionary histories.
Taxonomy is the branch of biology that's job is to name and classify species. On the broadest spectrum of classification of all living things, you have three overarching groups called Domains: Bacteria Domain, Archaea Domain, and Eukaraya Domain. Bacteria and Archaea Domains consist of prokaryotes, that is organisms with prokaryotic cells. Eukaraya Domain consists of eukaryotes, that is organisms with eukaryotic cells. Humans have eukaryotic cells and are therefore in the Eukarya Domain.
There are various types of biology degrees that can be earned, such as a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Master of Science in Biology, or a Ph.D. in Biology. Additionally, there are specialized degrees in subfields like marine biology, molecular biology, or ecology.
Unicellular prokaryotic organisms are actually broken up into the Bacteria and Archaea domains. The Bacteria domain has several shapes, and the Archaea domain generally resembles the bacteria domain.
