Well, in mitosis the cell is dividing into two new cells. there are for different phases of mitosis:

Prophase: the cells's chromosomes are visible

metaphase: all of the chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell on spindle fibers formed by the centrioles

Anaphase: the chromosomes are at opposite sides

Telophase: a furrow(animal cell,) (plant cell:cell plate) comes in between the two sides and creates the two new daughter cells.
