Diffusion is the process that occurs when a certain concentrated volume of material moves to a less concentrated state. Facilitated diffusion is different and is done with the help of pumps actively transporting materials across the cell membrane to create the equilibrium on both sides of the membrane.
a specific type of passive transport
the movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration
dissolved particles that are small or nonpolar can diffuse through the cell membrane
diffusion is used to reach equilibrium
equilibrium: a condition in which the concentration of a substance is equal throughout a space
Diffusion. Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a membrane.Osmosis is a special type of diffusion. It is the movement of water molecules only from a solution of higher water potential to a solution of lower water potential across a selectively permeable membrane. The characters in bold indicate the specificity of osmosis as compared to diffusion.(Biology, chemistry) diffusion of molecules through a semipermeable membrane from a place of higher concentration to a place of lower concentration until the concentration on both sides is equal
1. facilitative diffusion-transport proteins provide a pathway for certain molecules to pass 2. osmosis-the passive transport of water across a selectively permeable membrane 3. diffusion- the net movement of the particles of a substance from where they are more concentrated to where they are less concentrated. (out of a sophomore Biology book)... hope this helps <3
This process is called diffusion, where molecules move down their concentration gradient to achieve a uniform distribution.
rate of diffusion depends on the concentration gradient, surface area, distance over which diffusion takes place, size and nature of the diffusing molecule.
facilitated diffusion
In Biology there are three types of diffusion. There are simple, channel, and facilitated diffusion.
has to do with cells & diffusion biology 2 in high school

In biology, diffusion is the passive movement of molecules or particles along a concentration gradient, or from regions of higher to regions of lower concentration. Diffusion is the free movement of particles in a liquid or gas down a concentration gradient.
Well diffusion is when, say an aerosal can is sprayed into the atmosphere, taking it quite a while for you to smell it than the person closer to the can. the particles (which happen to smell in an aerosal can) mix with the particles in the air and cause diffusion. Hope I helped! :)
In my biology class this specific questions was asked. A cell secretes a hormone through facilitated diffusion.
they are processes in biology. yeah.
1) Passive diffusion. 2) Carrier mediated diffusion. In passive diffusion particles move from higher concentration to lower concentration. In carrier mediated passive diffusion a carrier protein comes, takes a paricle with it, go inside the cell membrane and liberate the particle inside. This is simple physics. By this way, once equal concentration is achieved (50 % on either side.) the diffusion should stop. But in biology the absorption may extend to very high level by passive diffusion. In biology on the other side of the cells there are cappilaries. They carry away the particle, say glucose, and maintain the concentration gradient. And so absorption continuesto very high level. ( Till all the particles are equally distributed.)

contagious diffusion, relocation diffusion, expansion diffusion, stimulus diffusion, hierarchical diffusion.
If you are taking biology you know that hierarchy means order from greatest to least and diffusion means spontaneous movement of particles of any kind where they are more concentrated to less concentrated so I believe the answer would be the highest level of particles to the lowest level of particles. Do not quote me on that but it sounds about right. If you're talking about human geography hierarchical diffusion is a form of diffusion in which an idea or innovation spreads by trickling down from larger to smaller adoption units.
