Minerals are found in rocks
Metamorphic
A type of uplift caused by Earth's tectonic plates pushing together, squeezing rock layers upward, causing them to buckle and fold, forming folded mountains

FOSSILS are found in sedimentary rocks. sedimentary because the rocks have been under water for over millions years and build layers till it made a cliff. THIS IS ROCK CYCLE
there are a lot of substances that wont preserve an organism. one would be molten rock under the earths crust or feathers something that cant keep it compact and still in one piece over millions of years.
sedimentary rock
well, we dont exactly know because what ever human there wasnt smart enough to keep the history to know
The next time you see a large rock, consider the following:Every drop of rain contributes to the rock's erosion;Movement and friction, plus action of organisms, help break the rock down further; The particles of rock created through these external forces create part of the soil;Dead plant matter and other organisms also contribute to the type and quality of soil;As soil is compacted under pressure, it begins the very long process of reforming into rock.

Pfft, all over the world really, but I've read something about a "history" line in rocks. Apparently, fossils of dinosaurs can only be found below that line. Take Drumheller, Alberta, for example. The rock formations have lines on them. Many dinosaurs have been found in similar rock formations. It is rare to find any higher up on the rock. Most "rock" formations dinosaurs are found in aren't really solid rock, but sedimentary dust and debris piled up over the years(and years...and years...). So unless the fossil had been exposed a few decades ago, but then had dust and debris pile up on it for a short time, dinosaurs can usually be found in lower canyon-like rock formations. (I'm no expert, but I have been very interested in dinosaurs and over the years have collected quite a bit of information.)
The Doushantuo rock formation in China encompasses fossils. The fossils within the Doushantuo rock formations have been found to contain organisms that share traits with Amoebas.
it is a sedimentary rock which means it has been transformed from a different type of rock over millions of years :)

The Flatirons are rock formations near Boulder, Colorado. There are five of them that run North to South on the Eastern most slope of Colorado's Green Mountain.
wind, water, wind over the years have created amazing sand dunes in deserts and rock formations other places it takes millions of years and look at the Grand Canyon a river created that that in its self is amazing
They look for rock formations where oil would be found. They locate those underground rock formations using seismic equipment that bounces a sound wave off rock formations, and back to a receiver. Somewhat the same way that sonar is used to locate a submarine underwater.
Sedimentary rock can become metamorphosed after millions or hundreds of millions of years. Most geologic processes, like metamorphism, are extremely slow in human terms.
they are found in layers because over the millions of years they have formed over the top of each other and eventually formed a rock
