It is a bacteria or bug that affects the stomach and stomach acid. It's believe to be what causes ulcers in the lining of the stomache. The doctor will usually take a scope, and look down your stomach and also take a small sample of your lining and look at it under the microscope to make the determination. You will need to relax and swallow to have the scope put into your throat and it's about 30 minutes at the most I think. I have had it done a few times. The bactoria or bug that is in the lining of your stomache lives in the acid. Usually it can be treated with pepto bismal and antibiotics for a period of time. Sometimes lke myself, it never goes away. I control it by not eating alot of citic, fatty things such as ketsup or bacon . I don't ly down after eating too. That's important. I have never had trouble since. Good luck. Diana S.
