An organism that is helpful to another organism is know as having a symbiotic relationship. This can take various forms including a mutualism relationship where both organisms help each other, a commensalism relationship where one organism benefits and the other is not affected and finally the parasitic relationship where one organism benefits but the other is harmed.

1.When both organisms have a benefit on each other, the relationship is called a mutualistic relationship. A relationship in which one organism is benefited and one is not harmed or benefited, the relation ship is called commensalism.

2.when two organisms benefit from each other it is called mutualism, an example is when bees pollinate (bees benefit because they need the pollen, flower benefits because 1.it doesn't harm them 2. they need to be pollinated)

p.s. #2 is useful if studying for life systems

Symbiosis.

When two different organisms live close together in such a way that they benefit each other they are said to live in a symbiotic relationship.

Plants known as lichens are a very good example of symbiosis. Lichens are made up of intimate symbiotic associations of microscopic algae (or cyanobacteria) living closely together with filamentous fungi.

Such animals are often globally referred to as parasites, but there are actually three different relationships that can occur.

Parasitic - In this form of relationship one organism drains on the resources of the other, harming its host.

Aegism - While one organism benefits, the other is completely unaffected.

Mutualism - This is sometimes mistakenly called symbiosis (all three of these types are symbiotic relationships, including parasitism), in mutualism both the 'parasite' and the host benefit.

Fleas and dogs are in a symbiotic relationship called?

It's not a symbiotic relationship ! It's a parasitical relationship. In a symbiotic relationship - BOTH organisms benefit form each other. In a parasitical relationship - only ONE of the organisms benefits - usually to the detriment of the other. Fleas suck blood from dogs - which can make the dog ill. The dog gets no benefit.
