neuropinephrine works closely with dopamine. they together are the main regulators or happiness, energy levels, outgoingness and motivation.

if they become too low for an extended time, immune function may be lowered - and immuno responses might happen such as a lowered antibody count in response to microbes or even demodex mites, thus increasing the risk of (tho not directly causing) further problems such as risk of illness or supposedly chronic chronic conditions such as Rosacea.

of course, there are potential "mood disorders" associated with low Neuopinephrine levels, the main type being 'depression' - a very generalised term.

many anti-depressants focus on serotonin - centering around trying to stop what is there being "re-uptaken" by the brain's "serotonin eating glands" .. yes, sounds like Science Fiction.

anyway, some people do not respond well to these, either the "SSRI" medicine has little or no effect, or it does alleviate the depression whilst also giving side effects such as erectile dysfunction (especially during times of extra stress).

there are two known drugs that directly address Neuropinephrine and Dopamine levels: Zyban - an anti-smoking and anti-depression drug that works well for some, however has caused seizures for others with more potentially emphasised side effects following the seizure. if zyban is mixed with much alcohol, ecstasy, cocaine, or other such amphetamine, the risk of seizure is greatly increased for some.

the other drug that directly addresses Neuropinephrine and Dopamine levels is Dex-amphetamine. this is a drug used for attention deficit disorder.

As regards the previously mentioned SSRI's, a side note should be made that if the person who presents with a mood disorder is somewhat of a "thrill seeker", then perhaps they may be more responsive to the preservation of Serotonin specifically, for the body can actually use adrenalin in similar ways; the "thrill-seeking" behaviour may well be an unconscious desire to replace lacking serotonin production with a fairly adequate substitute of adrenalin.
