increased width between the eyes due to an arrest in development of the greater wings of the sphenoid, thus fixing the orbits in the widely separated fetal position; autosomal dominant inheritance. Ocular hypertelorism is a feature of many syndromes. A distinct form shows other congenital defects such as hypospadias and esophageal anomalies.
