In biology, specialization refers to adaptations in form from a common morphology to one suited to a more narrow use. A good example would be in dentition (teeth). People are omnivores (eat both meat and vegetables) and we have canines that are specialized for ripping and tearing meat as well as molars which are specialized to grinding.

There is also an aspect of specialization in terms of new species arising from some progenitor as in Darwin's Finches found on the Galapagos Islands.
