Although I can't answer exactly what it is, it is just a cell and tissue culture created to test products for skin irritancy. It is an alternative to animal testing for things like skin-care products-- if it were an animal, its fur would be shaved, and the substance would be applied (often after the skin is abraised to increase absorption).
