Hilton's white line is slightly below the pectinate line. The transition of epithelium at Hilton's white is from non-keratinising squamous to keratining squamous while at the pectinate line it is coloumnar to non-keratinising stratified squamous. Also Hilton's seperates the venous drainage from potal to systemic while pectinate line seperates arterial supply from inf. mesenteric to internal pudendal.
