it's to do with genes, a homozygous organism has two alleles that are the same, whereas a heterozygous organism will have two different alleles. eg, on a chromosome for eye colour, a homozygous example would have both alleles for say, blue eyes. a heterozygous example would have an allele for blue and an allele for brown, where brown would be dominant, reccesive, or cooperative.

if for example we had a yellow and a blue flower yellow being dominant (Y) and blue being recessive (y) a homozygous organism has the phenotype of either being YY or yy and a heterozygous organism could only be Yy.

Homozygous Dominant is similar to Heterozygous in that they both express the dominant allele (aka the phenotype or physical traits of the allele). They are different in genotype though, which is their genetic make up because homozygous would be two dominant alleles and heterozygous is a combination of dominant and recessive allele. Homozygous recessive and heterozygous are completely different though in genotype and phenotype.

homozygous organism is one which possess same genes on their chromosome pair for instance C which represent colour blindness it will be present on both the x chromosomes of a female.

What is the difference between a herezygous and a homozygous?

"Heterozygous" and "homozygous" are terms that refer to alleles, which, in genetics determine what trait, from which parent, will appear in the offspring. Alleles can be either Dominant or Recessive. Every organism has two alleles, which can both be dominant, both recessive, or one of each. So,If an organism heterozygous, it has one recessive and one dominant allele. If an organism is homozygous then both of its alleles are the same; you need to specify if they are homozygous recessive (both alleles are recessive) or homozygous dominant (both alleles are dominant).

What is the difference between purebred organism and a hybrid?

A purebred organism is the offspring of two homozygous parents, having either two dominant alleles, AA or two recessive alleles, aa. A hybrid is the offspring of two heterozygous parents, Aa.

What is the difference between a hybrid and a purebred?

A purebred organism is the offspring of two homozygous parents. A hybrid on the other hand, comes from two heterozygous parents, which is a cross between two species.

What is the difference between homozygous and heterozygous?

Heterozygous is when the organism has two different alleles for a traitHomozygous is when they have two of the same the sameexample of homozygous= two blue eyesexample of heterozygous= one blue eye and one green eyeHomozygous is when the combination of alleles are the same. EX: AA or BB. Heterozygous are when the combination of alleles are different. EX: Aa or Bb.

What is the difference between homozygote and homozygous?

A homozygote is a homozygous organism. An organism can be a heterozygote or a homozygote. "Hetero" means different and "Homo" means the same.

The difference between a dominate and a recessive trait is?

A trait is dominant if it continues to be expressed in the heterozygous as well as the homozygous state. Recessivetraits are only expressed in the homozygous state.
