If by spongy bone you meancartilage then it's found in our joints, nose and some parts of the ear.

In the joints it provides cushion between the bones. Without the cartilage our bones would disintegrate from walking.

Its not cartilage!! In my a&p class, they said that's where you have your growth plates and that's where your red blood cells are produced. Spongy bone is stronger than compact bone because you have bone fibers going in all different directions. Its located in the ends of your long bones.
