Inner folds are called villi and they increase the surface area and increase the efficiency of digestion and absorption by increasing the contact of intestinal secretions and food particles and also food particles and the inner surface lining of intestine.
The villi massively increases the surface area upon which absorption can take place. The villi themselves are not fold but the inner surface of the folds in the small intestine. The lining of the s. intestine is covered by hundreds of tiny folds the bases of which are called crypts and the peaks of which are where the villi can be found.
These villi are also covered with thousands of microvilli which serve to increase further the amount of surface area available for absorption.
Hope that helps
They don't take space in the small intestine, but increase surface area so that the max. amount of nutrients can be reabsorbed back into the blood stream. Thus the foldings make the small intestines more efficient.
Villi. Also the Villi are covered in Micro-villi - just the same but smaller. The function of them is to increase surface area for absorption.
chemical digestion and absorption of nutrients
The phyloric sphincter is at the bottom of your stomach. It is the opening to the jejunum (the beginning of the small intestines).
The small or large intestines depending on specific area. Large intestines are a little above the small. Organ positions also differ from person to person depending on their body shape, stout plump people have a higher stomach, so most probably their small intestines are behind their navel.
The small intestines joins the large intestines at the cecum. The cecum isn't really a pouch, but the appendix, which is a pouch, is also attached to the cecum.
The main function is to digest food as the majority of digestion occurs within the small intestine.
The function of the small intestine is to break down foods and the function of the large intestine is to clean out the food that are not absorbed as wastes.

slows down the passage of the food slomg the intestines, and afford an increased surface for absorption. Increase the surface area for the intestines to increase absorption of nutrients
Your small intestines absorb the food and nutrients as well as the water you take in. You can not survive without most of it.
the duodenum is the first curve in the small intestines. the function is to move food further into the small intestine.
absorb food nutrients
rugae It's not rugae - for stomach. Small intestine wall is plicae circulares.
Plicae circularis.
spleen
absorbs water and nutrients and feed them to cells
