If a boy has TWO undescended testicles and wants to remain a soprano singing sensation into his teens, he might postpont medical treatment to bring them down. It is like the tradition centuries ago of Italian boy sopranos who let themselves become castrati. The difference is that once the testicles descend, the voice normally changes. So, there are advantages of having undescended testicles if a boy wants to keep a high voice. But he risks other complications, such as higher rates of testicular cancer, as long as the testicles remain undescended.

I know from experience about undescended testicles. Doctors could not get mine down until I was almost 20 years old. I sang a boy soprano solo at my high school graduation! I had no pubic hair until I was 20 - some three months after surgery brought my testicles down. I then developed quickly into a normal man. It was quite an experience being a 6 foot 4 inch 17-year-old with the smallest penis in my high school (and no pubic hair) -- even worse a 19-year-old with by far the smallest penis at UCLA (and still no pubic hair). But I weathered it. I am now a healthy male 71-year-old....and very youthful.
