Ossification
The process of cartilage turning to bone is called ossification. Osteoblasts develop in the cartilage and develop into hardened bone. As it develops, marrow is produced and an ossification center continues the process.
im pretty sure cartilage doesnt turn into bone. its the cushioning material at the end of some bone junctions (such as the knee) but it isn't bone.
However, in infants, much of its bones are cartilages that needs to be calcified through ossification. When the cartilage is filled with calcium, it becomes a bone.
There is also a disease in grown adults where their cartilages are filled with calcium, thus making their body stiff and die.
yes
Ossification
Cartilage is the soft white substance that we have as bones when we are babies. Cartilage soon grows hard into bones as we grow older. The end of your nose is cartilage, the majority of your ear is cartilage as well. :)
False. You have it backwards. Bone is the hard structure that give your body form, posture, and strength. They are stiff and cannot bend. They are hard. Cartilage is the soft, flexible, yet tough tissue found in the tops of your ears, and the tip of your nose. When you are an infant, many bones are partly cartilage, especially the skull. When you start growing, these bones get bigger and harden into actual bones.
We usually differentiate between bone and cartilage. They're not the same. Cartilage is generally thought of as a type of flexible connective tissue while bone is the relatively hard skeletal framework on which the body is built.
The function of hyaline cartilage is to provide flexible support. It has great tensile strength (due to the collagen) and is highly resistant to pressure (due to the ground substance). Hyaline cartilage provides a framework for the developing embryo prior to the appearance of bone. Later, it supplies the mechanism by which bones grow in length.

bones are hard, cartilage are soft and bendable , eg your ear, nose..

Soft part is flesh. Hard part is cartilage. Cartilage is what a shark's bones are made out of.
a sharks "skeleton" is made of cartilage.
Are made of hard material ( bones and cartilage ) that are inside the body.
The ends of the bones are covered with a tough elastic tissue called cartilage. cartilage makes the ends of the bones smooth and reduces friction between the bones during movement cartilage is also present in various other parts of our body . you could feel cartilage in the upper part of your ear and in the front part of your nose . these parts are not as hard as bones and can bend
because its a special kind of cartilage called elasto cartilage instead of the regular fibriocartilage found near bones
Cartilage does not contain bones nor is bone. Cartilage is soft to moderately hard tissue that makes your ear lobes, tips of your nose, joints between bones, and more more objects in your body.
