Flagellates are single-celled protists. There are two main groups. The Peranema belong to the group that ingests it's food (microscopic particles). The other group (Dinoflagellates) are similar to bacteria, and include algae. They don't eat whole food, but take in food that is already partly digested, and are important photosynthesisers in lakes and oceans. The flagella (whip-like apendages) are used for locomotion.
Zooflagellates are flagellated protozoan that do not have a photosynthetic pigment. These organisms are known to eat bacteria and other protists.
They are often found in trickling filter, oxidation ponds, lagoons and activated sludge.
All aquatic enviroments
they live in the sea, most notably causing 'red tide' on the coast
dinoflagellates are protist and protists live in water
They absorb food food from the environment
They can move through water (Gradpoint)

The most common name for Flagellates is Mastigophora. hope that helps:)
Ciliates -use the cilia to move. Flagellates- they move by whipping there flagella side to side .
Most diplomonadia are double cells with two nuclei. They are a group of flagellates. Many diplomonadia are parasitic in nature. An example of a diplomonadia is Giardia lamblia which causes giardiasis in humans.

function of flagellates
If they're not they certainly should be--who flagellates cattle?
flagellates
Flagellates, unicellular eukaryotes, use their flagella for transportation.
Flagellates.

The type of symbiotic relationship between termites and flagellates in their intestines is mutualism. The flagellates digest the cellulose in the termites' diet to allow them to absorb nutrients. The termite gut provides a safe place for the flagellates to live and breed.
FLAGELATES
most things are multicellular. all animals and plants :-)
Flagellates have flagella, which are tails, that help them move. A flagellum is a bundled microtubule tail that propels them through liquid.
Flagellates are found in fresh water as well as in salt water, sewage, and stagnant water.
