a lytic virus

All viruses cause cells to burst. First a virus disguises itself as a component a cell might require thus giving the virus access to the cell. The virus takes control of the cell and injects its genetic material into the cell. The virus then has the cell produce exact copies of the virus. In a few hours there are too many viruses for the cell to hold resulting in the burst of the cell.

What might happen if too water moved into a cell?

It could lyse (break)

An animal cell that is surrounded by fresh water will burst because the osmosis pressure causes?

An animal cell that is surrounded by fresh water will burst because the osmotic pressure causesAn animal cell that is surrounded by fresh water will burst because the osmosis pressure causes the cytoplasm is hypertonic where it will absorb water hence swells leading it to burst.

If an animal cell is placed in a hypotonic solution water moves into the cell causing the cell to swell and possibly burst?

Correct, in a hypotonic solution, water will move into the cell in an attempt to balance out the concentration of solutes on both sides of the cell membrane. This influx of water can cause the cell to swell and potentially burst due to the increased pressure.

Why would osmosis cause an animal cell to burst?

If the water potential outside a cell is higher than that inside a cell, water will move into the cell through the cell membrane by osmosis. The animal cell, unlike a plant cell, does not have a cell wall, which would prevent the cell bursting as it is rigid and holds the cell structure. The cell membrane of the animal cell is not strong enough to keep the shape of the cell when there is such an increase in pressure from water inside the cell, and the cell bursts.

Placing an animal cell in a hypotonic solution will cause water to?

move into the cell, causing it to swell and potentially burst due to the pressure buildup from the excessive intake of water.

What might happen if too much water moved into a cell?

If too much water moves into a cell, it could cause the cell to swell and possibly burst. This is known as lysis and can ultimately lead to cell damage or death.

How do viruses leave the host cell?

They cause the cell to burst. This is called lysis.

How does the freezing method affect the cell?

Any freezing will cause a cell to burst and die.

What happens if to much water is in a cell?

Too much water inside a cell will cause it to burst.

Why plant cell does not burst if placed constantly in hypotonic solution?

well the cell walls prevent the cell from expanding but it does cause little damage to the cell wall

What is the word that means that a cell swells and burst?

When a cell swells and burst

What might happen if the amount of water entering and leaving the cell were not controlled will the cell swell or shrink?

The cell membrane and all its organelles would burst.

Would red blood cells burst when placed in fresh water?

Yes - this is because there is a higher solute concentration inside the cell, so there will be a net movement of water into the cell (trying to reach equilibrium). This will eventually cause the cell to burst.

What happens to a cell if the water in it freezes?

When water in a cell freezes, it forms ice crystals that can puncture through the cell membrane. This can cause the cell to burst or become damaged, leading to cell death.
