Cell membranes have many convolutions because they increasee the surface area to volume ratio, thus increasing the diffusion rate.
Some organelles that have convolutions are the endoplasmic reticulum and the mitochondria. The rough endoplasmic reticulum is highly folded and has many extensions to provide a large surface area for ribosomes to preform protein synthesis on. This allows more amino acids to be turned into proteins at a more efficient rate. The mitochondria have many small extensions and folds on the inner membrane called cristae that act as convolutions. They allow a greater surface area for cellular respiration and energy reactions to take place. More sugars produced by photosynthesis can be converted to a useful form of energy for the cell, usually in the form of ATP. Like in the cell membrane, the convolutions on these organelles allow tasks to be completed at a faster and more efficient rate by increasing surface area.
mitochondrial inner membrane
It has enclosed organelles inside the cell it has enclosed organells on the inside It has a nucleus . . . . . . . . .
the organelles are enclosed in membranes
Structures inside a cell membrane are called organelles, and they perform vital functions for a cell, like organs do for humans.Organelles.
Animal and Plant cells have internal membranes surrounding organelles. Animal cells have a cell membrane protecting the organelles. Plant cells have a cell membrane as well as a cell wall surrounding organelles.
Most ATP is produced in the mitochondria organelles inside of cells. The rest is recycled ATP that is used on the surface of cell membranes, the phosopholipid bilayers.
The answer is proteins.
The mitochondria has a membrane with many convolutions because it increases the surface area for ATP synthesis
Cell membranes hold in cytoplasm and protect the organelles.
