The ribosomes
Proteins are made by ribosomes in the cell. Ribosomes can be found in the cytoplasm or attached to the endoplasmic reticulum. They translate the genetic information from messenger RNA into protein molecules.
The nucleus is the part of the plant cell that stores information in the form of DNA for making proteins. The DNA is transcribed into messenger RNA (mRNA) which is then used as a template for protein synthesis by ribosomes in the cytoplasm.
The endoplasmic reticulum makes membranes and processes proteins in a cell. There are two types: rough endoplasmic reticulum (with ribosomes attached for protein synthesis) and smooth endoplasmic reticulum (involved in lipid synthesis and detoxification).
