The hypothalamo-hypophyseal system does. The hypothalamus releases a hormone called GHRH (growth hormone releasing hormone) or somatocrinin, which migrates via bloodstream to the front part hypophysis (also known as the pituitary gland) through the hypophyseal stalk. GHRH stimulates the frontal lobe of the hypophysis to secrete growth hormone (mostly when we sleep), which in turn stimulates cell division and growth throughout the body, but most evidently in the muscular and skeletal system.

There is also an inhibitory hormone in the hypothalamus, somatostatin, which decreases growth hormone production in the hypophysis.
