The breasts are complex organs, the function of which are to stimulate the sexual drive in the sexual partner, and later to nourish the newborn child.

They, as mentioned, are quite complex in their anatomy, and are comprised of overlying skin, the areola and nipple, which is specialized erectile tissue.

Underneath the skin, the breast is divided into lobules by fibrous bands of tissue. Within each lobule is mostly fatty tissue, however this is also the location of the mammary glands, which if you're not nursing are less than an inch in diameter, which are connected to the nipple by mammary ducts. Is is the mammary glands that swell during and after pregnancy and excrete milk.
