Well a virus is spread by people sneezing and coughing in the air and not washing their hands after coughing or sneezing. The germs are then breathed in from other people and the virus spreads to one person to another. Viruses can also be spread from:

· in air

· through contact with animals

· through contaminated food

· through touch

If you touch somebody who has the flu, odds are you might get it by interacting with that person face to face. You can get a virus by the air, like when somebody sneezes, they should sneeze into their arm, but if they don't, all the virus germs are in the air and when you walk into them, you will get them all over you. And that will get you sick.

Well say for starters your friend has rabies, when you have an open cut, he/she hugs you. Then a source of the virus enters your open wound. It goes through your blood stream then eventually spreads. So there you have it. You now have rabies!

Viruses are composed of two main parts: an outer protein covering called a capsid and an inside core of either DNA or RNA.
Some of these have an envelope over the capsid. The ones that do not are said to be naked. The proteins in the capsid allow the virus to attach to the "docking stations" proteins of the host cell. The naked viruses are more resistant to changes in the environment.
They are hijackers. Once they get attached to the cell of a living cell, they can take it over and "make" the living cell produce virus particles instead of cell parts. These particles can assemble into more viruses and then they break out of the cell (killing it) and begin the process again. They cannot make more viruses on their own otherwise.
