this depends if the plants in question require sunlight or not. the vast majority of plants do require much sunlight and will die if they do not get enough. some however especially those that live in dark caves and other dark places may not require any.

In the absence of any source of light, photosynthesis will effectively cease, the Calvin cycle being dependent on a supply of energy. Eventually the plant will use up all of its available glucose, forming ATP through cellular respiration (the Krebs cycle) and begin to die off.

Without sufficient sunlight, or other artificial light, a plant will not be able to grow or reproduce as well. The energy from the light powers photosynthesis, which produces food to power its cells and the raw materials to build new ones.

If it does not get enough proper light, it may die because of the absence of sunlight. Water is not enough for plants to live on, since sunlight serves as the energy source for photosynthesis.
