W/o roots the plant would be unable to gather water and nutrients and would eventually die.It would not be able to absorb wate and mineral and eventually will die.
Plant roots will grow back just give it time and water. Plants will try to survive and have the ability to do what god gave it to do. If to severe then it might not be able to be saved. Try this trick- sprinkle some rooting hormone around the roots or mix with some water and put around the roots. You might be surprised!

Why does a plant need roots for its survival and growth?

Plants need roots for survival and growth because roots anchor the plant in the soil, absorb water and nutrients from the soil, and store food for the plant. Without roots, a plant would not be able to take in essential resources for its growth and would not be able to support itself upright.

What would happen if plants would have the same roots?

If plants had the same roots, they would compete for resources like water and nutrients, leading to decreased growth and possibly death of one or both plants. Each plant's roots play a crucial role in absorbing essential resources from the soil, so sharing the same root system would be detrimental to their survival.

What might happen to a plant that has a genetic mutation that results in shorter Root's?

The plant's roots would probably get more water and sunlight than longer roots do because it is higher to the surface of the soil so the two sources for survival reaches the roots faster.
