If you are a creationist - 6000 to 13000 years ago. If an evolutionist the answer would be much larger and a much bigger range.

Actually, a 6000-13000 year time-frame for creation has NOTHING to do with belief in creation itself.

I am a Christian, fully believing in Jesus' divinity and Godhood, and I do not believe in a literal interpretation of genesis.

In fact, I believe in evolution as well!

Here's a basic time line to Human Evolution:

Homo Habilis lived 2.3 to 1.4 million years ago

Homo Erectus lived 1.8 million to 50,000 years ago

Homo Antecessor lived 1.2 million to 800,000 years ago

Homo heidelbergensis lived 500,000 years ago

Homo sapien idaltu lived 161,000 to 55,000 years ago (oldest representative of the Homo Sapiens Species)

Homo neanderthalensis lived 90,000 to 28,000 years ago

and Homo sapiens lived 55,000 to 10,000 years ago.

So anyway, if you're talking about how many years ago did modern humans appear, we appeared 10,000 years ago because by then, we wouldn't have been able to function as well as anyone up till the 1100's.

If you asking when did the earliest human-like thing appear, then that would be 2.7 million years ago.

It was called Paranthropus.
