Tree pruning should be done in the fall when the tree is dormant. If you prune a fruit tree in the spring, you risk removing the flower buds. Pruning shrubs is good after the last freeze, sometime after Valentine's Day in warmer climes.

Answer

You need to be careful here you could be cutting off the flowers from a Spring or Summer flowering shrub.
