I had this on my BIO quiz earlier today. Because heterotrophs are not photosynthetic they receive their energy in the same way we do, food. Heterotrophs can be classified as consumers which means they eat (and get energy) from other plants or animals.

What atmospheric gas is required by heterotrophs?

Heterotrophs require oxygen as the essential atmospheric gas for cellular respiration, which is the process that generates ATP (energy) for their metabolic activities.

How do heterotrophs benefit from the biochemical process of photosynthesis?

Heterotrophs benefit from photosynthesis primarily by obtaining energy indirectly through the food chain. Photosynthesis converts solar energy into chemical energy stored in glucose and oxygen, which plants produce and release. Heterotrophs consume these plants (or other organisms that have eaten plants) to obtain the energy and organic compounds necessary for their survival. Additionally, the oxygen released during photosynthesis is essential for cellular respiration in heterotrophs.

Why do scientists think the first living cells to spear on earth were pobably anaerobic heterotrophs?

there was no oxygen in Earth's early atmosphere.

What food molecule is used by heterotrophs to make energy?

Heterotrophs use glucose as a food molecule to make energy through a process called cellular respiration. Glucose is broken down in the presence of oxygen to produce ATP, the primary energy source for cells.

Which of these statements is true about autotrophs but not heterotrophs?

Here are the answer choices: Which of these statements is true about autotrophs, but not heterotrophs? They use sugar and oxygen to make carbon dioxide and water. They use chlorophyll and oxygen to make carbon dioxide and water. They use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to make sugars. They use sunlight, water, and oxygen to make chlorophyll. We really need more information, so resubmit the question with more detail.

Are jellyfish heterotrophics?

Yes, jellyfish are heterotrophs. Heterotrophs eat and are consumers. Jellyfish eat, and are consumers: therefore, they are heterotrophs.
