What is chronic tonsilitis?

I was just diagnosed with this. A year and a half ago I got really sick and my entire tonsils turned white. Not spots, the entire tonsil on both sides were completely white. Apparently the surface of the tonsils died and were decaying. This left large "crypts" in my tonsils. These served as pockets for bacteria and infection. The next year was a pattern of feeling sick and seeing spots in my throat. I used to get sick once every couple months and then more and more frequent. I started coughing up "tonsil stones" and then feeling a little bit better until next sickness. (Tonsil stones are little chunks of bacteria and stuff that grow in your tonsils and smell awful.) I started getting sick a couple times a month and coughing up stones a couple times a week. I feel tired all the time, it is the worst symptom in my opinion. My tonsils are not very swollen, but are always red. My throat doesnt hurt often, but it seems to have become numb. Most the time, I am not too sick to function, but once in a while I get worse. Sometimes I have nausea from swallowing tonsil stones. Sometimes I have a fever and sore throat. Acute Tonsillitis is when you get sick once and get over it. Chronic tonsilitis never goes away although the symptoms seem less severe... but maybe it is because you just get used to it. If you think you have chronic tonsillitis, go to a Otolaryngologist (Ears Nose Throat Doctor). I went to a general physical a few times and they thought I just had strep throat. If you do to a dentist, they will think you just have food stuck in your throat. Go to the right specialist and they will know what you have. I was told that the only way to get it to go away in my case was to get the tonsils removed.

Can you get sick if you are already sick?

It is possible to get sick again if your immune system is weakened from a current illness, making you more susceptible to other infections. Additionally, being sick can sometimes make you more vulnerable to secondary infections. It's important to take care of yourself and practice good hygiene to prevent further illnesses.
