∙ 13y agoThe Ozone Layer is about 20KM in the stratosphere it is a gas (O3) that makes up a very thin layer of our outer atmosphere and protects us from UV rays from the sun as well as solar winds, sunspots, and solar radiation. The Ozone hole is a hole in this layer (theres more than one) that is created by greenhouse gases that damage the layer (aerosol spray is a big contributor), the holes are getting larger although parts are improving due to laws and restrictions on the amount of gases companies can release.

∙ 13y agoThe greatest thinning of the ozone layer appeared in late 1859 due to solar flares. The second greatest thinning appears to have happened in 2006 and the overal thinning that occurs annually has been shrinking since.
