Hinge joints
The shoulder joint is a ball-and-socket joint, where the rounded head of the humerus bone articulates with the shallow socket of the scapula. This joint allows for a wide range of motion in the shoulder.
The mandible is attached to the skull at the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). It allows for movements like opening and closing the mouth, chewing, and speaking.
The joints between the proximal phalanges and metacarpal bones are known as the metacarpophalangeal joints. These joints allow for flexion, extension, abduction, and adduction of the fingers.
