Many plants posses the metabolic machinery to undertake the process of photosynthesis (autotrophism), while the mushroom (and every fungi) lack.

Moreover, plant cell walls are composed of cellulose, while fungal cell walls are composed of chitin.

They don't have leaves and they don't flower. They're a fungus. Still a plant as far as things go... they're not animals or minerals.
