If you put insulin into food it would not have the same effect. You see, insulin needs to be in the blood stream. That is why you have to inject it with a syringe.

What is diabetes mentillus?

Your pancreas makes a hormone called insulin. It's what lets your cells turn glucose from the food you eat into energy. People with type 2 diabetes make insulin, but their cells don't use it as well as they should. Doctors call this insulin resistance. At first, the pancreas makes more insulin to try to get glucose into the cells. But eventually it can't keep up, and the sugar builds up in your blood instead.

What is the body chemistry associated with insulin resistance?

High blood sugar from food stimulates the pancreas to secrete insulin into the blood. However, in insulin resistance, the insulin is secreted but is only partially absorbed by the tissues.

Why do you have to use insulin when you have diabetes?
