Nurses study anatomy and physiology because they need to have an understanding of all the body systems. They perform assessments on patients and need to understand if and how this patient deviates from normal, why this is happening and how to maintain their safety.

A & P is a must know for nursing. There are so many aspects that require it. Notes are made referring to specific systems, muscles, etc. You must know the anatomy to understand what is being referred to. Treatment plans require indepth knowledge to be carried out properly. Without A & P we wouldn't know what was necessary to watch a patient for medications reactions, or how they are responding to care. In short, A & P is the basis of our nursing knowledge.
