A lot of blood is sent to the head because the human brain is so large and needs so much energy. Also, the skin on the head is a little on the thin side, so a lot of blood can force it's way out of a comparatively thin cut, since there's very little intervening dermis and hypodermis.
The blood vessels to the brain are primarily in the Meninges, consisting of several layers with the Pia layer being primarily capillaries, and the arachnoid space being full of smaller vessels. Here are some good reference articles.http://www.csuchico.edu/~pmccaffrey//syllabi/CMSD%20320/362unit3.htmlhttp://homepages.nyu.edu/~eh597/Meninges.htm
Since the scalp covers the cranium and since the bottom edge of the cranium includes behind the ears, I think the post auricular area is part of the scalp. Kate Kurfess, CPC, CCS-P
Scalp ringworm is caused by a type of fungus called dermatophytes. These fungi thrive in warm and moist environments, making the scalp an ideal breeding ground. Factors such as poor hygiene, sharing personal items like combs or hats, and close contact with infected individuals can increase the risk of contracting scalp ringworm.
The hair root plexus is a network of nerves around hair follicles in the scalp. When the hair moves, it stimulates these nerves, sending signals to the brain that are interpreted as the sensation of touch on the scalp.
To address dry scalp, try using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner formulated for dry hair. You can also apply a soothing scalp oil or treatment to help hydrate and nourish the scalp. Additionally, avoid washing your hair too frequently and limit the use of heat styling tools.
The scalp will not bleed when hair is pulled out because there are no blood vessels close to the surface of the scalp.
When possible, you should use a clean dry cloth, even a shirt, scarf, necktie, etc. However, if an artery has been cut, you will likely have to use your bare hand(s) until you can grab or obtain a cloth. Any time a wound bleeds profusely, or the wound is pumping blood (sign of arterial bleed), the wound requires immediate pressure.NOTE: The scalp has a huge supply of blood vessels. So head wounds bleed much more even for minor cuts. But a few minutes of pressure should slow or stop the bleed from a head wound.
A scalp injury is going to bleed like a river, only red. The scalp has lots of blood being pumped there (helps keep the hair alive), so when a person cuts the scalp he/she does 2 things: Go to the hospital immediately then throw the shirt away.
It means repair of wounds to the scalp and neck surface.
Our area had a severe thunderstorm warning last night.Severe winds toppled several trees. The laceration was severe. The small cut on the boy's head only seemed severe because scalp wounds bleed more than other cuts.

Different people have different styles, however, I start from the left ear going from front to neck, moving toward center of the head. Then from right ear to center of head. Then I change direction and shave from neck to front. Occasionally I have to shave in different directions to get a smooth head. JUST BE VERY CAREFUL! Scalp cuts are very painful, bleed profusely and take a long time to heal!
Repair, intermediate, wounds of the scalp, axillae, trunk, and/or extermities (excluding hands and feet); 2.6 cm - 7.5 cm
The blood will clot and turn into another scab. If you pick this scab, it will bleed again and will take longer to heal and leave a much worse scar.

As long as there are no open wounds on the scalp, it is safe to apply hair color. If the wounds are open, you will need to wait until they are completely healed prior to doing a color service (or any type of chemical service for that matter!). This will ensure that no chemical will enter the bloodstream and cause a possible infection.
