When one pupil is dilated when compared to the other is some sort of mass pressing on the oculomotor nerve; recall that parasympathetic tone is carried with the Oculomotor nerve to the pupil; the parasympathetic response in the pupil is constriction; if a mass is pressing on the nerve, the fibers are irritated and one would expect sympathetic tone to prevail causing dilation of that particular pupil. Among mass effect from a tumor, consider a berry anyeurism forming at the bifurcation of the posterior communicating artery from the posterior cerebral artery... the oculomotor nerve travels right between the PCA and the superior cerebellar artery... If you're suspecting a CN-III issue, also look for other signs such as muscle weakness of the medial rectus, etc...
When light is shone into one eye, the pupillary light reflex causes both pupils to constrict simultaneously due to the connection between the two eyes. This is known as a consensual response and helps to regulate the amount of light entering both eyes.
The reason one eye may take longer to open compared to the other eye is often due to differences in muscle strength or coordination between the two eyes. This can be influenced by factors such as fatigue, eye dominance, or underlying medical conditions.
One can effectively dilate blood vessels by using medications called vasodilators, which help relax and widen the blood vessels, allowing for increased blood flow. Other methods include regular exercise, maintaining a healthy diet, and managing stress levels.
== == * It's the same reason your eyes may change color or your pupils may expand making the eyes look like they are changing color ... corpuscles! When one is in the throws of passionate love, excited about something else in their life or are angry, that blood is just flowing to every part of the body and so is oxygen and that includes the eyes.
There are many things that can dilate the pupil of the eye. First of all, light plays a huge factor. Also, if there are unknown, alien substances in your body, such as drugs, that is also a pupil dilator. Also, if you have recently suffered a concussion, your pupils might be dilated for a while. Pupils also dilate when focusing on different planes of vision, as well as different distances.

This can be a sign of a serious neurologic disease and, if noted in a pet or a person, should be seen by either a vet (for the pet) or a doctor (for a person). Eyesight is actually somewhat shared between the two eyes, so the pupils dilate and constrict together. To have one eye dilated and one constricted or normal, the neural connection between the two eyes would have to be damaged or destroyed.

Cats and dogs blink with both eyes, though sometimes if they wanted to for any reason they can blink with one eye only and leave the other eye open, which is called a wink.
Cyclops have one eye because people who discovered it on an island saw elephant skeletons. they were not experts, so they thought it was a new mystical creature. so comes the cyclops. But why does the cyclops have one eye? The reason a cyclops has one eye is because the people who found it saw the large hole in the skull. This was the space for the elephant trunk, but they thought that it was an eye socket! There we go.
If it has just suddenly gone dark red it is probably nothing. This happened to me 3 times in six months, once when I sneezed, once when I slipped on a step and once for no apparent reason. I had my eyes checked and my blood pressure, they were both fine and I have had no trouble in 6 years now.
