Throught chemical reactions. The equation looks like this. 6H2O + 6CO2 ---------> C6H12O6 + 6O2 It's called photosynthesis. Plant remove CO2 from the atmosphere and, using the energy from sunlight, combine it with water molecules to make sugars and starches they can store for later use.

Is combining carbon dioxide and water to make sugar a physical change?

Combining carbon dioxide and water is a chemical change, not a physical change, but it doesn't make sugar. Carbon dioxide and water makes carbonic acid. CO2 + H2O <--> H2CO3-->H+ + HCO3-

What nutrients give carbon dioxide and sugar to plants?

Plants absorb carbon dioxide from the air around them. They make sugar themselves from carbon dioxide, water and light (in a process called photosynthesis.

Which of these statements is true about autotrophs but not heterotrophs?

Here are the answer choices: Which of these statements is true about autotrophs, but not heterotrophs? They use sugar and oxygen to make carbon dioxide and water. They use chlorophyll and oxygen to make carbon dioxide and water. They use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to make sugars. They use sunlight, water, and oxygen to make chlorophyll.
