Because you have to know when to stop. When it comes to surviving in the wilderness even the smallest of things you take advantage of now, can kill you. For example: Hiking, you have to stop, to dry off, because sweat will build up, and at night, if you are wet from the sweat, you are at risk for hypothermia.
