When does a mallard duck's head turn Green?

Once the ducklings hatch, the male will change his plumage from breeding to non-breeding garb, which is similar to that of the brown female. This short period of change is called "eclipse plumage." This lasts for a few weeks, and for a few days during that time, the male cannot fly.

Do Mallard Ducks lay their eggs at one time?

Yes, my wood ducks (male and female) are all almost 4 years old. Only one female lays eggs at my house though. She has laid 3 batches of eggs this year. Her last batch laid and hatched were in the fall. All batches had at least 10-16 eggs each batch. This may be because I always have a pile of rolled corn out for all of the ducks to eat, and a spot that she likes to lay her eggs. Also, I raised my ducks from babies, so they might be healthier than most wild ducks. Hope this helped! Tip - If you are raising them, make sure you feed them un-medicated food. Give the mom some rolled corn, or any other variety of duck food.

How do you get female cockatiel birds to fall pregnant without mating?

You cannot. A female cockatiel needs a male cockatiel to mate with her before she will produce fertile eggs. And incidentally, birds do not "fall pregnant".

Will a female betta fish make a bubble nest?

No. The male betta makes the bubble nest, the female lays the eggs, the male fertilizes the eggs and then takes the eggs and places them into the bubbles of the nest. Most often he will then turn and attack the female i still present. The male will then tend to the eggs until hatched making sure to replace any eggs that fall out of their bubbles.

Can a duck climb a tree?

I begged the differ, I have a mated pair of mallard ducks on my property that feed in the river and fly up every evening and sleep in our trees in the morning. I didn't think it was possible due to their webbed feet but nature proved me wrong!

How do bettas reproduce?

The male builds a bubble nest, entices the female to follow him by nipping and displaying his finnage. The male wraps his body around the female, turning her upside down and squeezing her until the eggs fall from her ovipositor, he fertilizes them as they fall. The male then collects the eggs to put into the nest where he tends to them. They will wrap or embrace for a few hours and then the male will chase the female away. The male will care for the eggs until a few days after hatch and once the fry can swim properly they are left to fend for themselves.
