yes, in search of food. they are known to fly over 50 miles a day in search of food, or better known as foraging for food. that is why when they are "pets", you are supposed to teach them how to hunt for their food, or hide it for them to find. specific "foraging toys" are made for this purpose. since in the wild they fly miles to find food, when in a cage they need something similar to occupy their time, hence the foraging toys so they literally don't go insane of boredom.

Are African grey parrots nocturnal or diurnal?

No, most cockatiels are not nocturnal. Sometimes, however, if you play with your cockatiel more at night, let's say if you work during the day, and you play with your cockatiel at night, your cockatiel may develop sleeping habits to sleep during the day, rather than night, to stay with you, so you and him can play. However, most cockatiels have the same sleeping patterns you do. But-most tiels sleep every bit you can, while you are away, or if they are on your shoulder. They sleep more in their lifetime than they are awake, so your cockatiel will take naps a LOT during the daytime, also.

How long do parrots stay with their parents for?

This depends on the species of parrot. Most species of parrots are social birds, and in the wild will stay with a flock, even though they will not necessarily remain with their parents. Six to eight weeks is an average amount of time for young parrots to stay with their parents.

What do African Grey parrots do if they are scared?

African greys are usually very sensitive Parrots to any changes my African grey is very tame i can handle him almost as i want on my shoulder touch him under his wings BUT there have been times where i was removing his poop off and he was standing by me he got scared and wanted to bite me while i was cleaning. In the begining i got very mad and upset with this behavior but realized he was actually very scared. You have to be very careful before misunderstanding the signals your parrot sends you. Listen to them.
