No not usually. They bite cattle and other worm blooded animals. To a Vampire bat human blood is like meat to a vegetarian. They prefer animals. Plus vampire bat bites are painless! They usually only bite people if there is no other food or to protect their young. Trust me, I read every single book about bats in my library. The vampire bat feeds only on blood. It gets the blood from horses, cattle, dogs, and chicken. With its two sharp upper incisors (the front teeth) it makes a shallow hole in the skin of its victim. It then laps the blood that comes from the wound. The vampire bat saliva is made of a special liquid, it makes the blood keep flowing! Vampire bat saliva is used in medicine to keep the heart beating and the blood flowing, in your body!
==========
Vampire bats are opportunistic feeders. Normally animals are much more available than people since people tend to stay inside at night (when the bats prefer to feed). People are also much more likely to react to a bat landing on or near them than say a horse or a cow, so again, bats are much less likely to feed on them. With that said - there are plenty of accounts of people out camping in areas within the habitat area of the bats who wake up to find one has nibbled on their ear or toes or other exposed skin without them waking up.
The waves in the water trip up their sonar.
There might be bugs flying above the people that the bats want to eat or maybe the bats think the droplets of splashing water are bugs that they chase.

Bats are not aggressive towards humans and typically avoid interactions with people. They may only bite in self-defense if they feel threatened or cornered. Bats do not see humans as prey, and their main focus is on finding insects to eat.

Bats do not typically attack humans on their foreheads. They are generally shy animals and will only bite if they feel threatened or cornered. It's important to give bats space and not try to touch or handle them to avoid any potential interaction.
Yes, sharks will attack people whether they are white OR black. But sharks tend to attack white people more.
