Panthers only eat meat and mostly make a diet of hog, deer, raccoon and armadillo. They occasionally eat rabbits, rats, birds and alligators. They are healthier when they eat bigger animals that make for larger portions. A male panther's life expectancy is up to 12 years, while a female's is uaually 10. The two reasons why most panthers are killed are habitat loss and hunting. They are also hit by cars, many killed in a place known as Alligator Alley (I-75), though laws have been passed which have kept most accidents then happening. And even though its against the law, people still kill them occasionally for sport. The panther is always closely associated with Florida and we don't want to lose this beautiful cat.
