It is false. What started this saying was when baby turkeys are born, they do not have feathers. Mothers would huddle there chicks in there feathers when storms hit. The chicks would die from exposure to the weather. It started when farmers found there turkeys drinking falling water when raining and found dead chicks thinking that they drown from the rain when in reality they died from weather. Besides if that were true, we wouldn't have an overpopulation of turkey's.
Turkeys will turn their heads up and into the rain, and may drown as a result.
They can drown...as they tend to look up to see what is hitting them and water pours into their nostrils.
no it is hi
yes and any parents that say no then there rong
Same reason why you don't drown in rain. The water doesnt go inside you and if there was a flood it could drown
I know all about wild turkeys, if it is raining turkeys will either ignore it or roost in their tree.
Ordinary heavy rain won't actually drown a turkey, but they will get wet and miserable if they don't have enough dry shelter. If the rainstorm actually causes flooding then yes, turkeys (and chickens too, for that matter) can drown, because they can't fly and their feathers get waterlogged, making movement difficult for them. They should always be protected from flooding if they're kept in areas where this is a risk, with their runs and sheds built on high ground with good water run-off, and rescue of them made a priority in the event of flood.
No, no, no. If someone told you that turkeys drown if they look up when it rains, don't fall for it.AnswerThis person who answered the question is absolutely right, I once has been fooled by my friends. Turkeys never drown by looking up at the sky while it rains. Unless there was a flood. AnswerYes it is ture but they need there mouth open
The old wives tale is that the turkey would drown due to stupidity, but in fact turkeys are quite smart and they would just get water in their eyes. the turkey would drowned of stupidity
so it can drown rain warter
Of Course.
Because the soil draws in all the rain water. If the nightcrawlers do not come out during the rain they will drown.
