How can you tell the gender of a duckling?

You can't until they are a certain age. Before that, while the females quack, the males make a 'whong' or 'woooo' sound. If the bill is yellow-green it is probably a male.

You could also take it to the vet and have it sexed.

1) Their voices are different; females "quack", clear, and loudly, while males are raspy, and much quieter.

2) The males have a curly feather on their tails. Many breeds also have differences in their plumage, look up your breed and look at pictures.

3) The way they behave. If the duck is on top of another, pretty good chances it's a boy!

Well when a duckling reaches the age of around 5-9 weeks, it gets its adults voice. Males make low rasping noises and the females make loud higher pitched noises.
