Birds do not sweat. They release heat via panting, not unlike dogs. They will also hold their wings away from their body. Baby raptors, especially owls, have a lot of down for the first few weeks and can become very hot in warm climates. This is one reason it is so important, if you have a barn owl nesting box, to clean it out of pellet debris every year between late Oct. and late Nov. A build up of debris in an owl nesting box will cause higher tempertures during times of extreme heat.
