And if you are trying to get the to stand on your hand to nurse them, you slowly move your hand towards it and wait for about 10-15 seconds and then if he/she flies off you move your hand towards it. If your bird doesn't want to corporate try to tell it your the boss ( without hurting or frighting it too much.

you cant train a untame cockatiel to be held or to sit on your finger i tried that once but boy was that a bad idea! ummm but if u want it to talk just say the phrase over and over again about 38 times a day and it should take about 1 and a half weeks to learn it and if u want it to bob its head up and down keep putting your finger up and down in front of the bird and eventually it will start bobbing

the most important thing you'll need to train a budgie is trust. you'll also need patience, love, and respect. if you have a ll this for your pet budgie, it will obey you. so once you get your pet budgie, keep it in your cage for about 2 or 3 days while keeping a close eye on them and entertaining them. do not try to get them on your finger at this point. you'll only ruin you chances of it really happening. after that, try hand feeding them a millet spray. you can get millet spray from Walmart, Petsmart, or Petco, but i think Petsmart is best. slowly approach them with your hand while holding the millet spray towards it's face. don't rush or it'll go away from you. if it eats from your hand, try to hold still. if it scoots away, don't follow it. that means it's not ready. after a few days of hand feeding it, remove their food for 5 hours. after the 5 hours, put some seeds in your hand. slowly approach it and hold it in front of its stomach. if it eat from your hand, pull your hand back a little bit slowly and stop at a point where the budgie can't stretch out his neck any longer. that will cause him to hop onto your finger to eat the seeds. if he flies off, don't be disappointed. it dosen't mean hates you, it's just a little scared. but if you are kind and don't force it to do anything, i will make a bond with you and will trust you in return.
